Monday night it was Tanner's turn to plan family home and evening and so I come home from a long day at work and what does he surprise me with?... "we're going to make cinnamon rolls!" I don't think he realized how long it takes to make cinnamon rolls... so we go to the store and get ingredients and go grab dinner and by the time we get home to get started it is way to late to start so we plan on doing it Friday night for date night. Friday night comes along and I'm ready to make cinnamon rolls. First we decided we wanted to use a gift card to Outback that Tanner's parents gave us for Christmas. It was truly delicous but took FOREVER. By the time we got home it was around 9:30 PM. We decided to get started on our cinnamon rolls anyways since it was the weekend. During the rising periods we watched episodes of Lie to Me on netflix and slowly were becoming over tired. We started becoming goofy and if any of you know us... we get crazy when we are over tired. Needless to say we finished our HUGE WORLD RECORD WORTHY cinnamon rolls around 2 AM! We enjoyed our maple cinnamon rolls and quickly went to bed with a lump of dough in our stomachs. The weekend consisted of me eating 3 cinnamon rolls and giving them away to anyone who would take them. It might be a while before we try making cinnamon rolls again but if we do it will be at a decent hour and for a better reason than tanner craving ONE cinnamon roll.
Tanner didn't get his first white Christmas but trust me... he has experienced snow. I think it gets colder every year in Utah. The more I live here... the more I lean toward moving to a warmer climate year round.... like Arizona ;). We decided to take a walk while staying at my parents house over the holidays and it was so refreshing. It was one of those winter days that you enjoy because the sun is shining its rays just enough to keep you warm against the cold air. We took some fun pictures and quickly decided to go back to hibernating :).
This year all the children were able to be home for Christmas at the Hales. It was so fun being around family for a couple of days. My sister Michelle who is 19 weeks pregnant was able to fly in with her husband, Michael from New Jersey. She has a little bump and it makes me so excited and anxious to meet my first nephew/niece on the Hales side. Jaclyn and David were lucky to have 2 weeks off since David is in Law School. Andrew was just as lucky since he is also finishing college. My brother Paul works very hard at UPS and had to work Christmas Eve morning but at least he had that night off. Tanner and I were grateful for our 2 days off to enjoy the Christmas holiday. It didn't really feel like Christmas until I was off work and with family. This was Tanner's first experience acting out the nativity and he really enjoyed it. He was a wise man while I was an angel. This is one of my favorite traditions and I would love to do it with my own family some day. Tanner didn't get his first white Christmas but I'm sure it will happen one of these years. Tanner bought me black boots which I love and he got a new phone from me. We feel very blessed and overall had a wonderful Christmas.
